Even today there people who have created new islands for settlement and other infrastructure they flattened a nearby mountain and dumped to the sea to make a new island seeking a new lands to settle. Nowadays, they stay close to shore, and simply construct new coastline.
Moving literal mountains, is a growing number of massive land reclamation projects are reshaping and, in some cases, duplicating the world.
